一緒に研究したい方へ / Join our lab.

To those who wish to study graduation, master's, and doctor's research

Thank you for your interest in Wearable Environment and Information System Laboratory (W.I.L.). As laboratory management, in a research area covering a wide range of information technology from simple hardware to software, we aim to create an environment where you can carry out research in cooperation with researchers from various fields (large companies, ventures, hospitals, universities in Japan and abroad). We attach great importance to diversity, and we aim to gather students with various skills and interests, cooperate, and grow together. Through research themes, you will naturally find employment by acquiring the skills that will be useful for your desired work. To that end, we strongly recommend that you pursue post-graduate studies, which will allow you to acquire higher practical ability and adaptability (it should be taken for granted in the science and engineering field). As a graduate student, you will be able to make presentations at international conferences and the possibility to perform short-term internships at the Lyon University/Grenoble University in France and the Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland, with which we have deep exchanges. For example, we are welcoming people who are interested in:

  • Wearable sensing and machine learning for well-being
    • human behavior assessment and persuasive feedback
    • human mental state assessment and positive feedback
    • health maintenance promotion and support
  • Skill (sports, art, etc.) assessment and improvement support system using only wearable devices
  • Combination of wearables and X-Reality (AR/VR/MR)
  • Systems that makes daily life more comfortable
    • Creation of new wearable devices and accessories from hardware and electronic circuits
    • Smartphone, smartwatch, smartglass applications
  • Can't do anything yet, but is interested in the research field and is full of energy and motivation

If willing to join AGU for post-graduate studies, there are 2 opportunities: the international Master program, and the regular Master program starting in April. (below is general information. In any case, check the official guidelines)

  1. International Master Program:
Application guidelines available at: [School of Engineering International Master Program 2024]
    • All classes are available in English
    • Starts in September each year
    • Application deadline usually mid-March
    • Oral interview (including ability test) usually begining of April
  2. Regular Master Program:
Application guidelines available at: [School of Engineering Master Program]
    • All classes in Japanese (research direction possible in Engligh)
    • Starts in April each year
